Frequently Asked Questions
What can you screen print on to?
Normally we will print onto t-shirts and other garments, such as hoodies or sweatshirts. Though we can print on to pretty much anything as long as it is a flat surface, such as paper and sheet metal, though depending on the medium that you wish to use, certain specialist inks and techniques may be required.
What is the maximum size you can print up to?
At the moment we can print up to 45cm wide by 65cm tall. We usually recommend that standard chest prints are around 26cm wide and 35cm tall. This is to ensure than it will fit across a wide range of garments, while making sure than none of the design gets hidden by arms and other body parts when it is being worn.
How many colours can you print?
We are currently equipped to print up to six (spot) colours. Our Head Ninja printer also has a few tricks up his sleeve to create the illusion of more than the six (spot) colours, which he will happily discuss with you if it is required. We also offer 4 colour process printing as an option, which we can print onto both light and dark garments.
How quickly will my order get processed?
We tend to say that you will have your finished product within 2 weeks once the artwork has been signed off and the deposit has been paid. Orders are generally processed much quicker, but we say 2 weeks as a safety net just in case there are any unforeseen circumstances that arise, such as attacks from rogue ninjas.
Are there any specialist inks and print techniques that I can use for my garments?
Yes there are. We specialise in bitmap and 4 colour process printing, even onto black garments. We can also offer the use of speciality inks, such as Reflective, Fluorescents, Metallics, Glow in the Dark and a special UV Gloss for white plastisol that we have created ourselves, which offers a super shiny gloss in daylight and glows as bright as white clothing under UV lights. It is worth mentioning that use of our speciality inks and print techniques do carry with it an additional charge per garment, as they require a more labour intensive process and cost more than our regular stock of inks.
Is there a minimum order?
No there isn't. Though there is also a small stock order charge if the cost of the stock is under £100, and also the individual print costs tend to be higher the less garments you get printed.
Can I supply my own garments?
Yes you can, though if they are garments or brands which we haven’t used before, then we may need to perform a series of ink tests to make sure that no issues occur during production, such as dye migration. We also have a small garment handling fee that is charged per garment, with sweatshirts and hoodies costing more than t-shirts.
How should I submit artwork?
Initially just as a .jpeg image, so we can evaluate how we will print it and to help us when making up a quote. When it comes to submitting the final artwork, we prefer to have it submitted in .psd, .ai or .pdf files, with a resolution of no less than 300dpi.
Can you ship overseas?
We can ship overseas, though we don’t have fixed rates for overseas shipments, so costs will be worked out on a per job basis and will vary depending on the size of your order and also where they will be shipped to.
What if I am unhappy with the finished product?
In the highly unlikely event of dissatisfaction, we will strive to do our best to turn any dissatisfaction into pure joy. So if there are any issues that you aren’t happy with, please let us know as soon as possible and we will do everything we can to resolve any issues you may have.
Do you offer any additional finishing services once the product has been printed?
We only offer label removal, individual size nape printing, folding and bagging and tagging in house. Though if you would like to get your own labels made and sewn into the garments, or if you want any other finishing done to the garments then we can either sort it out on your behalf for a small fee, or if you would like to sort it out yourself then we are more than happy to put directly in touch with any of our many contacts.
What is the best way to get a quote?
If you know what stock you what to use (what sizes and how many you want to order) and can also send over a .jpeg image of the artwork you want to use, then let us know via e-mail or over the phone and we will aim to get a quote to you by the end of the day, if not sooner. We like to give as accurate a quote as possible, so any additional information you can give us regarding your order is greatly appreciated.
Do you offer design services?
No we do not. Though we are fortunate to have a very large list of artists and designers in our contact book and we will be happy to point you in the direction of someone who may be able to fulfil your design needs.
Are your cycling hats really handmade in the U.K.?
Yes indeed. From the cutting of the peaks, to printing the design onto the pieces of fabric, from the cutting of the printed panel pieces to the actual construction of the hats themselves, every step of the process is done by hand right here in the U.K. in the cycling city of Bristol, by a team of dedicated individuals who actually get paid fairly for the hats they create.
Is the Head Ninja printer really a ninja?
Most definitely, though these days he no longer undertakes secret missions or performs stealth assassinations, unless of course he is severely provoked, for example if someone were to do something stupid, like eat all of his dynamite rolls, then he would have no choice and would be forced to perform some of his forbidden Jutsu ().
